  • Job Summary The Leader is responsible for planning, budgeting, operations, staffing, and the overall direction of Fiscal Services. The Leader serves as an expert, mentor, consultant, team leader and facilitator in the department. The Leader serves as the primary resource for all practices, processes and systems of the service, providing 24-hour accountability for the department. Job Specifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience in accounting or business administration. MBA or CPA desirable. Previous experience in hospital accounting with supervisory or managerial responsibility. Technical and professional accounting skills.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrated ability in financial and operational systems and familiarity with data processing operations.

    ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS Understanding and ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software. Visual acuity required to adequately access, read, understand, prepare, and present written and on-line material. Verbal ability is required to issue instructions to subordinates, present oral and written reports, and to read technical literature about changes in accounting techniques and equipment. Sound interpersonal, organizational, decision-making, problem solving, and customer service skills necessary to respond and satisfy customers exhibiting high stress behaviors is required. Clerical perception is needed to prevent errors in procedures, reports, and record keeping. Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop the skills of the Fiscal Services personnel. Ability to perform duties and handle information which requires discretion and confidentiality. Numerical ability is required to analyze accounting problems and comparative reports. Ability to communicate effectively and concisely with all members of the department and hospital, accurately transmitting and receiving on-line, verbal and telephone communications. Ability to remain calm and courteous while working in stressful situations. Ability to make judgmental decisions concerning new accounting procedures and new equipment needs, to reduce time and cost of accounting operations. A preference for activities carried out in relation to processes, techniques, and machines in order to plan sequence steps and prepare instructions. A preference for technical activities in order to effectively analyze accounting problems and to devise improved procedures. Must have the ability to work with a variety of people of diverse populations (e.g. cultural diversity, employee workforce, ages adult through geriatrics, hearing impaired, physical and mental disabilities and variety of educational and cognitive levels).
